The M220 is designed for students and entry-level clinical use. Unlike many microscopes in its class, it uses DIN industry-standard optics, making it compatible with a large selection of objective lenses and eyepieces. All of the necessary functionality is present in an intuitive form factor which is ideally suited for classroom use. The stage and focusing system have been upgraded on this model with streamlined mechanical control to make examining specimens even easier.
The monocular head keeps things simple. The use of a single eyepiece means that no adjustments are necessary for eye alignment or symmetrical focus. The head can rotate 360° for viewing from different positions. Interchangeable eyepieces allow you to change the overall magnification with optional lenses, or use a camera in place of the eyepiece to view microscopic images on a computer monitor or other display.
The objective turret provides instant access to 3 magnification levels to easily focus in on minute details from 40X to 400X. This covers magnifications needed for studying hair follicles, cells, and bacteria. These high-quality lenses are achromatically corrected to improve resolution and color accuracy.
The stage is fully mechanized for precision adjustments. Using a two-layer design and a sliding caliper, specimen slides can be precisely moved along the X and Y axes to efficiently look for regions of interest. The coarse and fine focus knobs have been combined in a coaxial format so both adjustments are right at your fingertips. An adjustable height-limit mechanism for the stage can be used to prevent the stage from being raised too high. This prevents the lenses from making contact with specimens and potentially causing damage to the lenses and glass slides.
The LED sub-stage lighting provides cool, energy-efficient illumination. The light-source is daylight balanced to produce natural colors for imaging. The height-adjustable light-condenser uses rack-and-pinion movement, and precisely focuses light onto the specimen, with an iris-diaphragm to control contrast and focus depth.
